1. Sample hundreds of brews at the Denver Winter Brew Fest
What: Sample over 100 amazing brews from over 40 breweries with your commemorative tasting glass, while listening to some great live music from the Burroughs on Friday night and Dead Floyd on Saturday night.

What: Coming all the way from Arizona, the Phoenix Suns will take on the Denver Nuggets at 7 p.m. at the Pepsi Center.

3. Enjoy the Great Fruitcake Toss in Manitou Springs
What: It’s no secret most of us are not fond of fruitcake and would rather toss it than be subjected to another bite. So each year, the people of Manitou Springs come together to test their fruitcake tossing distance, accuracy and speed, using mechanical devices to launch the holiday desserts. There’s also a fruitcake costume competition, libations and a fruitcake bake-off. And yes – there are prizes for winners of each competition.

When: Saturday, Jan. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m.

4. Test your fishing skills at the 3 Lakes Ice Fishing Contest in Granby
What: Have what it takes when it comes to ice fishing? Then you’re invited to come to Granby and fish in the lake, as well as try your chance on the Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Grand Lake for over $21,000 in cash and other prizes.

When: Friday, Jan. 25 through Sunday, Jan. 27
Admission: Entries are $35 for one day, $45 for two days, and $50 for all three days.

5. Drive to Breckenridge for the International Snow Sculpture Championships
What: Throughout a span of five days and more than 90 hours of sculpting, 16 teams from around the world take on the challenge to hand-carve 20-ton blocks of snow into enormous works of art. The result is a temporary outdoor gallery in historic downtown Breckenridge. Viewing days are from January 25 to January 30.

6. See the best of the best at the 2019 Winter X Games in Aspen
What: The X Games return to Colorado’s Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen for the world’s best winter action sports, music and festival experience. Witness the very best across four action-packed days from the best athletes in skiing, snowboarding and more. Lil Wayne, The Chainsmokers, among others will perform. What: The 10th annual Rio Frio Ice Festival will feature live ice sculpting, faux snowman building, a kid’s costume contest, a Grub-n-Pub, a fire and ice bonfire, a 5K on the Rio Grande, a polar plunge and an Ice Carousel.
