DENVER – Riders will start getting better advanced notice of canceled light rail trips from RTD beginning on Friday, as the company continues to deal with operator shortages.
RTD said it will start posting the canceled light rail trips for the upcoming week on its Rider Alerts page after requests for better advanced notice from the public. On that page, riders can sign up to get route-specific alerts through email.
RTD will also email rider alerts to subscribers at 10 a.m. each Saturday, Monday and Wednesday for already-posted trips that RTD expects to cancel in coming days. RTD says it will also send alerts daily for any trips that are canceled that were not anticipated.
RTD has been cancelling dozens of trips each week for the past several months as it figures out how to deal with its operator shortage. Service cuts have already been proposed and public meetings are set to take place before the RTD board votes on a final package of cuts.
RTD said this week that the earliest riders could see those permanent cuts or reductions would be in May 2020.
