7 ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Denver

DENVER – The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Denver will actually fall on St. Patrick’s Day this year – something that has only happened five times since the parade started back in 1962.

If you’re looking for ways to celebrate Irish pride, take a look at some of these suggestions.

1. St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Denver

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Denver starts at 9:30 a.m. at 19th and Wynkoop. It will then go down on Wynkoop to 17th, south to Blake and then from Blake it will go to 27th. There will be floats, clowns, bag pipe bands, Irish step dancers and more.

Believe it or not, this is one of the country’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parades. The event is free to attend.

2. St. Patrick’s Outdoor Festival

Put on by Fado Irish Pub and band Howl at the Moon, the festival will feature an outdoor festival from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be live bands, outdoor bars, and three food trucks to enjoy. It’s located at 1901 Wazee Street.

3. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the Irish Snug

Join the folks at the Irish Snub for the annual Capitol Hill Hooley, featuring Colorado’s best Irish bands, Irish step dancers and pipe bands. There will also be a magic show and balloon twisting for children. The event goes from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

A $5 admission benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Irish Pub is located at 1201 E. Colfax Avenue.

4. St. Patrick’s Day Dinner at the Knights of Columbus

An Irish dinner hosted by the combined councils of Ladies of Auxiliary of Holy Cross and Immaculate Heat of Mary. There is a suggested donation of $10.

The Knights of Columbus is located at 2911 W. 104th Avenue in Denver.

5. Rory’s Irish Tavern St. Patrick’s Day celebration

The Celtic Friends will kick off their St. Patrick’s Day celebrations with traditional Irish music at 2 p.m., followed by the Celtic Steps Dance Troupe at 4 p.m. More live music will continue until about 9 p.m. There is no cover charge for the event. Rory’s Irish Tavern is located at 400 Broadway in Denver.

6. Irish Stroll Bar Crawl

Get your luck of the Irish at Denver’s Irish Stroll from noon to 2 a.m. Sunday. Venues include: Society Sports and Spirits, Lamark 15, Tryst Lounge, The Drink, and Lucky Pie Pizza and Taphouse. Buy tickets here.

7. Luck of the Irish St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl

Starting at 5 p.m., several pubs around town will go green for St. Patrick’s Day. So make sure to break out in green and bring your Irish pride for a night full of bar hopping. Buy tickets here.
