DENVER — Grab your raincoats, boots and umbrellas, it's about to get stormy. While it may not be the most convenient, it will be great for fire danger in the state.

Colorado is set to encounter tropical storms, according to Denver7 Chief Meteorologist Mike Nelson. The storms already have impacted the Limon area, where thunderstorms and heavy rain prompted officers to issue a warning to drivers.

Not far from Colorado Springs, a Tornado Warning was issued around Woodland Park, a rare side-effect of the severe storms.

For the rest of the metro area, heavy rain, lightning and some hail can be expected.

The worst areas for hail are expected to be on the eastern plains, although hail can develop in any severe storm.

As the week develops, expect additional storms on Thursday, but a reprieve as the area returns to warm, dry weather through the weekend.
