It's official -- the total snowfall at Denver International Airport is 12.1 inches, a record for March 23 in Colorado. The old site at Stapleton has had close to a foot of snow and the National Weather Service office in Boulder has reported 17 inches.

But how much snow has fallen this season?

Denver has officially reported just about 53 inches of snow -- the average for an entire snow season is 57, so we are well on our way to having 2015-16 be considered a "snowy winter."

First Alert Weather Meteorologist Cory Reppenhagen says this blizzard has eclipsed the total snowfall for the month of March. On average, Denver gets about 11.4 inches of snow during the month.

By the way, here are the all-time biggest snows for Denver:

  • 45.7" Dec 1-5, 1913
  • 31.8" Mar 17-19, 2003
  • 30.4" Nov 2-4, 1946
  • 23.8" Dec 24, 1982
  • 23.0" Apr 23, 1885
  • 22.7" Oct 20-23, 1906
  • 21.9" Oct 24-25, 1997
  • 21.5" Nov 26-27, 1983
  • 20.7" Dec 20-21, 2006
  • 19.3" Jan 29-31, 1883

Even if we take the snow total at the NWS in Boulder, this storm would still not be in the TOP TEN!
