Flood advisory national weather service pueblo co 939 pm mdt thu sep 27 2012 bent co-otero co- 939 pm mdt thu sep 27 2012 ...urban and small stream flood advisory remains in effect for east central otero and central bent counties until 1130 pm mdt... at 935 pm mdt...national weather service doppler radar indicated up to 1.5 inches of rain had fallen along the highway 50 corridor from la junta to near hasty. some of this heavy rain was mixed with large hail in the la junta area earlier this evening...which clogged drainage ways and slowed the drainage of high water along roadways...underpasses and low water crossings. heavy rain has ended across the area...though some light showers will continue to be possible through 1030 pm. these showers may produce spotty additional rainfall amounts of up to a tenth of an inch. runoff will continue to cause minor flooding until the water has time to recede. some locations that may experience flooding junta...and las animas. precautionary/preparedness actions... excessive runoff from this storm will cause minor flooding of small creeks and streams...urban areas...highways...streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. if flooding is observed...act quickly. do not enter the water. turn around and move up to higher ground. do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising. in hilly terrain...there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. find alternate routes. it only takes a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away. lat...lon 3816 10297 3804 10297 3800 10323 3791 10362 3803 10362 3813 10327
