DENVER — High clouds can be expected tonight across Colorado and temperatures will not be as cold. Lows will be in the upper 20s to middle 30s in the Denver area and in the teens and 20s in the mountains. Some of the high mountain valleys will drop to 5 below to 5 above zero.
It will get warmer by Wednesday with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s for Denver and the eastern plains. In the mountains, clouds will thicken but temperatures will be in the 30s to low 40s. Some snow showers will develop in the mountains late in the day as a cold front moves into western Colorado.
The winds will pick up across the northern Front Range mountains and foothills Wednesday night. A high wind watch is in effect for gusts near 75 mph Wednesday night and Thursday.
The cold front will bring some light snow to the mountains starting Wednesday night. Accumulations will be light — just a couple inches for the mountains along and north of I-70 with just flurries farther south. Denver and the northeast plains might get a brief rain shower or flurry Wednesday night.
It will be windy and a little colder on Thursday as the front moves east of Colorado. Skies will be clearing and highs will be in the 20s to low 30s in the mountains and 40s over the plains.
Friday will be dry and cool statewide, followed by another chance for light snow for the mountains and plains on Saturday.
Some flurries may linger into early Sunday, followed by clearing skies.
