DENVER — The evening will be dry in Denver under partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be in the 70s and drop to the mid 60s by 10 PM.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage over the eastern plains ahead of a cold front that is dropping south from Wyoming.

The cold front will roll through Colorado by early Wednesday morning. Expect clouds and showers early Wednesday morning and that may create wet roads for the early commute. Temperatures will be about 7 to 10 degrees cooler, with highs in the low 70s.

The shower chances will hold for Thursday as well with highs in the middle 70s.  In the mountains, highs will be in the 60s with scattered showers and thunderstorms.

A few showers and storms will still be possible Friday, especially over eastern Colorado. Highs will be in the upper 70s to near 80 in Denver and across the plains. The mountains will be in the upper 60s to mid-70s.

Warmer and drier weather will for the weekend into early next week. Expect highs in the mid-to upper 80s Saturday and Sunday!  The warm and dry weather will continue for most of next week.

The aspens are turning in the mountains!  This weekend should be a great time to get up to the high country and enjoy the annual display of aspen gold - especially in areas north of I-70.
