Quiet weather to start to holiday weekend

DENVER — The weather will stay peaceful this evening and overnight for Denver, the I-25 Corridor and the mountains and western valleys. Some strong thunderstorms will rumble over the far eastern plains and then roar into Kansas and Nebraska.

Lows tonight will be cool with readings in the middle 40s in Denver and across northeast Colorado. In the mountains and western valleys, lows will dip to the low to mid-30s!

Friday will be dry and pleasant. Highs will be near 80 degrees in Denver, with 60s in the mountains.

Some scattered afternoon thunderstorms will develop on Saturday, especially over the central and northern mountains as a cold front moves into the state from the west. Denver and the Front Range will be dry in the morning and afternoon, followed by a chance for thunderstorms toward evening. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Saturday night and Sunday will be cooler with a good chance for showers and thunderstorms. The mountains will get some SNOW above 10,000 feet early Sunday. Highs will be in the 60s for Denver and the plains and only in the 40s to low 50s in the mountains - be ready if you are heading up there!

Memorial Day will be a little milder again, with some scattered showers and storms possible - but better than Sunday.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be drier and warmer again.
