DENVER — The wintry blast dropped over a foot of snow on the wildfires and brought 6 to 10 inches of snow to Denver and surrounding communities. The flakes are now giving way to just bitter cold temperatures!

Temperatures dropped into the single digits and teens over the Denver metro area. The readings will not rally much for the rest of the day and tonight temperatures will tumble to around zero to 5 above over the Front Range.

Denver will easily break the record low temperature for October 27th - which is currently 11 above zero, set in 1925. The average low temperature at this time of year is 33 degrees and the average high is 61 degrees.

There may be some areas of ground fog early Tuesday - especially in the South Platte Valley north and east of Denver. In addition, many streets, ramps and bridges will still be slippery this evening, tonight and early in the day on Tuesday.

Temperatures will be slow to recover on Tuesday due to the very cold start and the snow-cover. Expect highs in the upper 30s to low 40s under a mostly sunny sky.

Expect a gradual warm-up, with highs in the low 50s in Denver Wednesday, then sunny and milder days through Saturday, with highs near 60 on Thursday, middle 60s for Friday and around 70 degrees on Halloween.

Dry, mild and quiet weather can be expected into at least early next week.
