DENVER — Strong winds whipped across Colorado through the day with gusts of 30 to 50 mph common in the mountains and across the I-25 Corridor and Northeast Plains.

Lighter winds will prevail on Tuesday and a band of strong jet stream winds moves to the east of Colorado. Lows will drop to the single digits and teens in the mountains by morning, with 20s across the plains.

Tuesday will be a sunny day, with just a few wispy cirrus clouds crossing the sky. Temperatures will pop back into the low 50s in the Denver area. In the mountains, expect sunshine with lighter winds and highs in the 30s.

The weather pattern will remain fairly quiet through mid-week, with more dry weather for Denver and the eastern plains. Highs on Wednesday will jump to the upper 50s to low 60s in the Denver area. In the mountains, temperatures will be in the middle 30s to low 40s.

There will be a chance for some light snow late Thursday and early Friday as a cold front pushes into Colorado from the west. The weather will be colder with a chance for some light snow again on Sunday - all just in time for the Stock Show!

It looks like the overall weather pattern will turn colder and more stormy for Colorado through the middle of January.
