DENVER — A series of storms will bring snow to the mountains through the weekend and to Denver and the eastern plains starting today.

Snow will accumulate to five to 10 inches in the mountains in the next 48 hours, while high clouds cover the plains. 

Light snow and rain along with colder weather can be expected in Denver on Friday with highs in the 30s. 

Saturday will be cool and windy in the Denver area with highs in the 40s.. More snow will be developing for the central and southwest mountains.

A stronger storm will likely swirl into the state Saturday night and Sunday with heavy mountain snow and a chance for several inches of snow in Denver and across the eastern plains.

Early next week will be cold with snow diminishing. Temperatures will remain cool throughout the week.
