DENVER — Summer returns during this first week of fall. Our afternoon high at DIA reached 89 degrees. We came close to tying the record high of 90 degrees. Our average afternoon high should be 74 degrees this time of year.

This next cold front will move through Friday and we're in for a nice change for the end the week.

Temperatures will drop into the upper 60s to low 70s Friday afternoon. We'll see increasing clouds, with scattered showers in the afternoon and early evening.
So far, the weekend looks great! Highs in the upper 70s under a mostly sunny sky on Saturday and Sunday. There is only a slight chance of isolated storms late Saturday.

The aspen leaves are changing in the mountains, but they are a little late this season so far. The recent warm weather has delayed the foliage a bit, but some of the aspen trees will really glow in the high country over the next couple weeks! Here's where to go to see the beautiful fall foliage.
