DENVER — A generally quiet weather pattern is setting up for the central Rockies with just a few weak weather fronts slipping across the region over the next few days.

Skies will clear tonight with cooler temperatures as a weak cold front slides across the state.

Lows will drop to the upper 40s to low 50s for Denver and the eastern plains with middle 30s to around 40 in the mountains.

Wednesday will start off sunny and very pleasant, followed by a few showers for Denver and the eastern plains in the afternoon. Highs will be cooler - in the lower 80s for the I-25 Corridor. Highs in the mountains will be in the low to mid-70s.

Thursday will be a little warmer again under mostly sunny skies. Highs will return to the mid-to upper 80s for lower elevations, with 70s in the mountains.

Friday through the weekend will turn slightly cooler and remain dry - just beautiful mid-September weather! Highs in the 70s for Denver with plenty of sunshine. In the mountains, expect 60s to low 70s and bright blue skies!

The aspen leaves are beginning to change in the mountains, but they are a little late this season so far. The cool and wet spring has apparently delayed the foliage a bit but it will not be long before the aspen trees begin to really glow in the high country! Here's where to go to see the beautiful fall foliage.
