We sound a little like a broken record this week — sunshine in the morning and thunderstorms in the afternoon. That will be the pattern all week long!

Clouds will increase by midday, with showers and thunderstorms likely by early afternoon. The threat for large hail and tornadoes will be lower, due to cloud cover and cooler temperatures, but heavy rain will be possible in the afternoon, especially in the mountains and foothills. Lighter rain is expected across the northeast plains with a low threat for severe weather.

Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s in the Denver area and across the eastern plains. In the mountains, expect a cool, wet afternoon with temperatures in the 50s to around 60 degrees and plenty of showers.

Showers and thunderstorms will also be likely on Thursday with temperatures just a few degrees warmer. The heavy rain threat will be a bit lower, but the chance for strong to severe storms a little higher.

Friday and Saturday will be warmer and mainly dry, followed by a cooling trend on Sunday. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s Friday and Saturday, but just around 70 degrees on Sunday.
