DENVER —Monday, expect mostly sunny skies through the day and highs in the mid to upper-90s for the metro-area. Winds will be gusty at times from the west. Our record afternoon high is 97 degrees for the day as well as our forecasted high.

In the mountains, there will again be increased fire danger. High winds and low relative humidity are prevalent for the majority of the western slope and our northern and central mountains. Be sure to follow any local fire bans out west. Highs will be in the 70s and 80s for the majority of our mountain towns.

Drier and hotter air will move in though early next week. For all the kids back in school on Monday, expect clear skies and mild conditions early, with highs soaring to around 97 degrees in Denver in the afternoon. Stay cool and hydrated!

We won't see another chance for widespread rain across the Front Range until Wednesday. There will however be a chance for isolated thunderstorms come Tuesday afternoon and evening with the approach of our next cold front.
