DENVER- It was a cloudy, damp and chilly start to our Sunday. We even saw a little light rain/snow over our northern mountains and across the northeastern plains today. Highs Sunday stayed below normal, in the upper 40s to low 50s for the metro-area. Skies will gradually clear statewide tonight and lows will not be as cold, in the upper 30s in Denver by morning.
Fire Danger was not as high today, but even so, a new fire- the Lefthand Canyon- fire sparked Sunday, forcing evacuations in parts of Boulder county . Also, the Cameron Peak, the Cal Wood and East Troublesome wildfires will continue to bring areas of widespread smoke to areas downwind of the flames. Air Quality Alerts are in place for the majority of the Front Range through Monday.
High winds will again be a big concern for firefighting efforts, increasing over our northern and central high mountains again this week.
Dry and pretty pleasant conditions can be expected through mid-next week in Denver, with highs in the low to mid-70s Monday through Wednesday.
A fast moving front looks to move into Colorado late Wednesday and Thursday. Cooler weather and light precipitation will again be possible, but unfortunately not a good soggy storm. At this point, with worsening and near extreme drought conditions across the state, any little rain/snow will be a welcome sight.
