In the northern mountains, expect 6 to 12 inches of snow with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.

For Denver and the eastern plains, a snow and icy light mix will cause slick conditions for the early morning drive. There may be a break in the precipitation around midday, with snow again Friday afternoon into early Saturday.

Accumulations will not be heavy for Denver, perhaps one to three inches, but up the 6 inches will be possible over the northeast corner of Colorado with strong winds late tonight and early Saturday.

Saturday will be windy with clearing skies as the storm moves to the east of Colorado. Highs again near freezing on Saturday.

Milder and drier weather will finally return to Colorado Sunday through Tuesday.
