DENVER — Temperatures took a tumble from the recent warm weather as highs dropped 20-25 degrees from Wednesday afternoon. The cold hs settled into the state, now snow is on the way tonight and Saturday. The snow will not be heavy, 3 to 6 inches in the mountains and 1 to 3 inches for Denver and the I-25 Corridor. The eastern plains will probably only see an inch or two at the most.

This storm will not be a major system, but will drop 6 to 12 inches in the San Juan and Sangre de Cristo mountains through Saturday.

A Denver7 Weather Action Day is in effect through 10 p.m. Friday due to the big shift from warm and dry to cold and snow. Roads may be a little slick Friday morning - plan to allow a little extra time.

Saturday will be cold with snow showers — just minor accumulations for lower elevations, but a few more inches in the mountains. Highs will be in the low 30s in Denver and in the 20s in the high country.

Sunday should be sunny, but cool, highs will be in the mid-to upper 30s. Monday will be a bit milder, but clouds will increase ahead of the next chance for snow. Highs will be in the middle 40s.

Colder weather with a chance for more snow is in the forecast for Tuesday, mainly for the mountains, but some light snow or flurries will be possible in Denver.

Wednesday will be drier again, followed by another chance for snow next Thursday and Friday.
