DENVER – A warmup is heading for Colorado.

Temperatures warm to the mid-50s across the metro on Monday under a partly cloudy sky. Winds pick up from the northeast through the afternoon.

Sunny and warmer weather returns through Thursday. Highs will be near 60 degrees Tuesday, with low 70s expected on Wednesday and Thursday.

Dry weather appears on the horizon for much of next week across Colorado, but there are some signs of a shift to a more stormy pattern this month.  We sure could use the moisture, drought conditions are increasing over much of the state during this very dry winter.

Snow has been scarce this season with only seen 19.4" of snow at Denver International Airport - about half normal at this point in the season.

In the mountains, the snow-pack is roughly at 70% of normal for the season, with the southern mountain areas in the worst shape. The storms in late February did help, but the recent mild and quiet weather has lessened the snow-pack a bit in the past week.  Looking ahead - we could use several more good snowstorms!

There are some signs of a change in the weather pattern around the middle of the month with a better chance for heavier snow around St. Patrick's Day.
