DENVER — The warm and dry weather will continue across Colorado for two more days.
On Wednesday, Denver reached 77 degrees at the Denver International Airport, breaking the record high which was last set in 1915. It marked the second straight day of record highs for the Mile High City. This afternoon, temperatures have been in the middle 70s again - so far just shy of the record of 77 degrees in 2009.
It will continue to be a warm and dry week with temperatures in the 70s for Denver and the eastern plains through Saturday. In the mountains, temperatures will be in the upper 50s to mid 60s through the workweek.
Nighttime lows will be mild as well with readings in the low to mid 40s for Denver and the eastern plains and in the middle 20s to low 30s in the mountains.
Fire danger will be increasing across the state with the warm and dry weather. By Friday, the winds will be stronger and gusty just ahead of a major shift in the weather pattern. A Fire Weather Warning has been issued for the eastern plains for Friday.
A cold front will hit this weekend, spreading rain and snow over western Colorado Saturday afternoon and bringing a chance for rain and snow to eastern Colorado on Sunday.
Expect highs to drop into the 50s on Sunday, with a chance of showers on the plains and 30s with much-needed snow for the mountains. Colder weather with a chance for snow will continue for early next week.
Temperatures will be just in the 40s for highs in the Denver area for most of next week.
