DENVER — A fast moving cold front is racing through Colorado and will zip onto the plains of Kansas overnight. This front has brought snow to the mountains, with three to six inches and possibly up to 8 inches by early Thursday morning.

This type of cold front drops most of the moisture in the mountains, leaving very little for Denver. Strong winds will develop over the I-25 Corridor and the eastern plains tonight with gusts of 20-40 mph likely.

Strong northwest winds will cause blowing dust and snow, especially over southeastern Colorado. A Weather Advisory is in effect for southeastern Colorado tonight for limited visibility in blowing snow and dust!

Temperatures will be cold by early Thursday with lows in the upper teens to low 20s on the plains and from 5 below to 10 above zero in the mountains.

Clearing and cool conditions can be expected on Thursday, with highs the low 40s across the Front Range. Winds will be gusty from the northwest in the morning and gradually diminish in the afternoon. In the mountains, there will be fresh powder, but bundle up as temperatures will be cold - in the 20s, with wind chills ranging from zero to 10 above.

There will be a nice warming trend heading into the weekend! Dry weather and more sunshine can be expected for Friday with highs in the 50s for the plains and upper 20s to middle 30s in the mountains.

Temperatures should return to the middle 50s to near 60 degrees Saturday and Sunday for lower elevations and be in the 30s to near 40 degrees in the mountains. Skies will be partly cloudy with periods of high cloudiness, but no rain or snow.

Dry and mild weather will continue for early next week.
