DENVER — As the middle of July nears, the temperatures are soaring! We've been hitting highs in the mid to upper 90s over the plains and the Front Range! The mountains have seen highs in the 70s and 80s.

The warm temperatures in the high country have greatly accelerated the snow melt, rivers and streams are running high, fast and cold! Those mountain streams will be about the only thing running cold for the next several days.

Hot and mainly dry weather will cover Colorado through Sunday. In early to mid July, there is almost always a slight chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms, but the rain chances will only be in the 10-20% range today. We'll see a slightly better chance of afternoon storms on Saturday and Sunday.

Temperatures will climb into the low 90s through the weekend and that will be about 3 to 5 degrees above normal.

There will be a greater chance for storms on Monday and Tuesday with slightly cooler temperatures.
