DENVER — Partly cloudy skies cover Colorado and the temperatures are mild. Highs reached well into the 60s on the plains with 40s to low 50s in the mountains.

Skies will remain partly cloudy tonight and Friday with low temperatures in the 40s for Denver and the eastern plains and 20s to near 30 degrees in the mountains.

Friday will be a delightful day - a perfect Opening Day for the Rockies with partly cloudy skies and highs in the 60s. There will be a 10% chance of isolated storms later in the day. The lower atmosphere is pretty dry, so the storms will be high-based, bringing mainly gusty winds and a little thunder, but only brief rainfall.

A weak storm system will move across the central Rockies on Saturday, with a better chance for showers and thunderstorms and some snow for the mountains.

Temperatures will be in the 60s on Saturday on the plains, with 40s in the mountains.

Skies will clear on Sunday and mild, dry pleasant weather will hold through Tuesday on next week. Highs will be in the 60s to near 70 degrees early next week in Denver, while the mountains reach the 50s.

Another storm system may bring some rain and snow to Colorado by the middle of next week. This storm may be stronger and have the potential for heavy mountain snow and possible snow in Denver and across northeastern Colorado.
