DENVER -- Police have shut down the I-25 on-ramp at Colfax Avenue as they conduct a homicide investigation late Thursday afternoon.

Police initially said they were conducting a death investigation from earlier Thursday on Colfax and Umatilla, but recanted at around 5 p.m., when an official tweeted the death was now being investigated as a homicide.

Police said they closed the section of the highway to collect evidence, adding that more information would have to come from the Coroner's Office.

No estimated time for the reopening highway was given.

Police would not say if they were looking for a suspect.
