St. Louis has elected its first Black female mayor.

Tishaura Jones is currently the city treasurer. 

She beat out an alderman by a 52-48 margin and will be sworn in as mayor on April 20.

Jones campaigned as an advocate for social justice and a supporter of criminal justice reform.
