BOULDER, Colo. -- Over the next ten weeks we will be taking you through a week by week training plan to get you ready for the 40th running of the BolderBOULDER

Whether this is your first race or your 40th, there are some things that will help you out as you start your training.

Check out the beginner & intermediate running plans developed for the BolderBOULDER by Revolution Running.

If you’re new to running and this is your first BolderBOULDER it’s always a good idea to get the green light from your doctor before you start any training program.

  • What’s great about walking, running or jogging is the only piece of equipment you need is a good pair of running shoes. Expert runners suggest visiting your local running store and getting a pair that fit you well. They may cost a few dollars more, but having comfort and support that is customized to your feet can improve your experience.
  • Make sure you have some comfortable breathable clothes to train in. Since the weather in Colorado can be unpredictable, layering your work-out gear will help you when the weather gets cold.

Training for a run can be more effective if you cross-train with other exercises.  Some good cross training options are:

  • elliptical
  • cycling
  • hiking
  • swimming or anything else that gets your heart rate going.
