DENVER — The Broncos can't shake the losses. They lost their eighth-straight game Sunday -- and money. The NFL fined outside linebackers Von Miller and Bradley Chubb for hits on Jacksonville quarterback Gardner Minshew in the 26-24 defeat.

Both players are expected to appeal. Over the last few seasons, the NFL has prioritized safety, and, in particular, protecting quarterback. It has led to many controversial penalties, with defenders struggling to find the balance between rushing the passer and avoiding an infraction. Miller was docked for his hit on Minshew's facemask on Jacksonville's final drive. It became a weird play when Chubb caused a fumble that bounced back to Minshew who moved forward to scoop it up and into Miller's path.

Chubb was not penalized for roughing the passer in the game, but upon review, received a fine for a hit. It splashes Sea Breeze into an open wound. Chubb tore the ACL in his left knee in the loss, and will miss the remainder of the season. It was a rugged game. The Jaguars drew multiple fines as well. Linebacker Myles Jack was docked $10,527 for unnecessary roughness, and outside linebacker Yannick Ngakoue was fined $21,056 for a hit on Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco.

The good news for the Broncos? The physicality, questionable calls or not, translsated into production. The Broncos ended their sack drought, notching five.
