DENVER -- There remains nothing normal about NFL training camps this summer.
That point was driven home Thursday afternoon when the Andrew Beck became the first Broncos player placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
The tight end/fullback enters a protocol and must be cleared before his return to the UCHealth Training Center. The Broncos are not permitted to disclose the exact reason a player, in this case Beck, was put on the list. There are a number of reasons for a player to be isolated. It can happen through a positive test, requiring a minimum of 10 days isolation from the facility, or coming into contact with a person who has tested positive. The latter requires a negative test by the player to return followed by eight days of daily testing.
Several teams have placed players on the COVID-19 list, including Minnesota linebacker Anthony Barr.
Players may be activated from the list when they are healthy. Beck caught nine passes for 90 yards and one touchdown. He is the only player on the roster with experience at fullback, a marginalized position in coordinator Pat Shurmur's new offense.
