House Intel Committee: There's No Evidence Trump Tower Was Wiretapped

Leaders of the House Intelligence Committee say they don't believe former President Barack Obama was spying on Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.

"I don't think there was an actual tap of Trump Tower," committee chairman Devin Nunes said.

Both the committee's Republican chairman and its top Democrat told reporters Wednesday they haven't seen evidence the Obama administration wiretapped Trump Tower.

Trump made those allegations in a series of tweets earlier this month, claiming Obama had tapped his phones before the election.

Trump didn't give any proof for the accusations, and the Obama administration has vehemently denied them.

Leaders on the House Intelligence Committee said they're still waiting on evidence from the Justice Department to back up Trump's claim. They added there will be a public hearing on the subject in the coming weeks.
