A Colorado man is facing criminal charges after spitting on deputies and yelling that he was glad another deputy had been killed.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports that authorities say 32-year-old Jesus Villarruel of Grand Junction began yelling and cussing at citizens in the Mesa County Justice Center lobby Friday. Deputies say he also cussed at them and said he was glad Mesa County Sheriff's Deputy Derek Geer was shot to death last month.
According to court documents, deputies began questioning Villarruel and he told them he was going to kill them.
Officers handcuffed him but say Villarruel continued to threaten them, tried to fight them and spat on two officers.
A judge on Monday denied a public defender's request that he be released without bond. The public defender's office declined comment.
