PLATTEVILLE, Colo. – It’s hatching time for some baby eagles in northern Colorado.
Xcel Energy’s announced Sunday at around 10:09 a.m. that “baby eagles were happening now.” They dubbed the event “Hatch Madness.”

The first egg of the season dropped back in February.
The new parents have a 6x5 foot nest that sits in a cottonwood tree close to the Xcel plant.
Officials say they typically return to their nests in the fall and raise eggs from February to June. The eagles have used the nest for years, and the Colorado Division of Wildlife bands the offspring.
The utility company has two “Eagles cams” trained on the nest, which sits at the company’s Fort St. Vrain Station in Platteville.
