Broomfield marching band awarded 'best overall band' during Dublin's St. Patrick's Day Parade

DENVER – A local high school is making Colorado proud after their marching band was named the “best overall band” of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin on Saturday.

“Thank you to Legacy High School Band for entertaining the crowds at @MansionHouseDub this afternoon,” the Lord Mayor of Dublin tweeted. “They were then awarded best overall band of the @stpatricksfest parade – Congratulations! Comhghairdeas! #StPatricksDay.”

The Legacy High School marching band was performing at the official residence of the Lord Mayor of Dublin earlier this morning.

Speaking to Denver7, Adams 12 Five Star School District spokesman Joe Ferdani said the Legacy High School marching band went through a rigorous application process so they could perform at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Ireland's capital.

Ferdani said the selection committee for the parade was "impressed with their accomplishments and performance quality."

Recently, the Legacy High School marching band won the Colorado State band championship.

In previous years, the marching band has participated in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in New York City as well as the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.
