ROCKY FORD, Colo. – Four families are without a home following a fire at an apartment building in Rocky Ford and one of those tenants suffered minor injuries from the blaze, the Rocky Ford Fire Department said Sunday.

The blaze was reported on Sycamore Street around 1 a.m.

Departments from La Junta, Manzanola and Fowler helped the Rocky Ford Fire Department battle the flames that fully engulfed the building, which was declared a total loss.

Temperatures in the area dipped to -22 degrees but despite the freezing cold, crews went to work quickly to put out the fire.

The four families that were displaced by the fire need your help to get back on their feet. If you would like to help out, you can make a donation to Community Presbyterian Church, located at 303 S. 9th Street in Rocky Ford.
