Saddle Rock Golf Club Resident Found Stabbed Multiple Times

Victim's Son Arrested In Jefferson County

A 22-year-old man who called police to notify them of a homicide in Aurora has been placed under arrest, accused of stabbing a relative multiple times.

Trevor Stewart was taken into custody early Wednesday morning for investigation of first-degree murder.

The victim, who is in his 50s, was found in his home, located in an affluent neighborhood adjacent to the Saddle Rock Golf Club.

The victim has not been identified and police would not disclose the relationship between the suspect and the victim. The victim's identity is expected to be released on Thursday, after the coroner completes an autopsy.

However, a relative told the Aurora Sentinel that the victim is Stewart's father, Robert Stewart, and that Trevor lives in the home with his parents. The relative said Trevor had recently been diagnosed as schizophrenic.

After the killing, Trevor realized what he had done and contacted the authorities, the family member said.

Trevor called authorities just after midnight Wednesday from a location in Jefferson County, Aurora police Detective Bob Friel said. After talking with Trevor, deputies arrested him, impounded his vehicle and notified Aurora police about the potential homicide near East Arapahoe Road and South Gartrell Road.

Trevor's mother was out of town on business when the slaying occurred, according to the family member.
