DENVER – An exploratory committee has formed to look into the possibility of Denver and Colorado hosting the Winter Olympics in the future. But as excited as some are to bring the games to the Mile High City, others don’t think it’s a good idea.

“Our infrastructure is already strained, so I think we need to focus on maintaining what we have going on here,” Tony Pigford of the NOlympics Community Board told Anne Trujillo on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged.

Pigford says while it’s always good to bring attention to the city, he says the Winter Games may not be worth it.

“We don’t need to bring a risky mega-project that typically has exorbitant cost overruns to Denver and Colorado,” he said.

Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Denver7.
