DENVER – Colorado Gov.-elect Jared Polis will be inaugurated Tuesday morning at the state Capitol in Denver ahead of an inauguration ball set to be held Tuesday evening.

Several roads will be closed near the Capitol beginning at 10 p.m. Monday night and up through 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, so if you’re someone who typically drives through the area to get to work, you’ll need to find an alternate route.

The closures are as follows:

  • Two lanes of Grant St. between Colfax Ave. and 14th Ave. are shutdown from 10 p.m. Sunday until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
  • Lincoln St. will be closed from 13th Ave. to Colfax Ave. from 10 p.m. Monday until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
  • Sherman will be closed from 13th Ave. to 14th Ave. from 10 p.m. Monday until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
  • 14th Ave. will be closed between Broadway and Grant St. from 10 p.m. Monday until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Polis will be sworn-in as Colorado’s new governor in the inauguration ceremony on the west steps of the state Capitol, which begins at 11 a.m. The public will be able to watch the ceremony in-person from a viewing area on Lincoln St. between Colfax Ave. and 14th Ave.

Denver7 will stream the inauguration ceremony live on TheDenverChannel.com, on our social media sites and on all available streaming devices.

The Blue Sneaker Ball inauguration celebration will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, though tickets were already sold out as of Monday.
