PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) — Former U.S. Rep. Raymond Kogovsek of Colorado has died.

The Pueblo Chieftain newspaper reports that the three-term Democratic congressman and former Colorado state Senate majority leader was 75. He died Sunday.

Kogovsek was a Pueblo native and one of six children. He was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1968 and the state Senate two years later.

He was elected to Congress representing Pueblo and southern Colorado in 1978.

Kogovsek stepped down after three terms rather than run again in 1984.
