DENVER – Hundreds of people are expected to march against white supremacy at the Colorado State Capitol this Saturday.

More than 500 people showed interest in the participating in the Unity March Against White Supremacy, which is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

The group will march to “stand in solidary with Al Green to Impeach Trump, The NFL players who took the knee, and those in Puerto Rico who was (sic) refused aid by Trump,” according to a mission statement posted on the event’s Facebook page.

“We will not stand for leaders in Congress that fail to challenge President Trump when he 'winks and nods' to a racist base of support. We will not stand for leaders that would cynically sacrifice the good of the country, the safety of its people, for the sake of a legislative agenda,” an event organizer said.

The Unity March Against White Supremacy is part of a larger nationwide event, with the main rally taking place in Washington, D.C.

There will be several speakers in attendance, including Colorado State Rep. Joseph Salazar, a spokesperson for the ACLU of Colorado, people from Amnesty International USA and political activist Tay Anderson, who most recently spoke in front of a large crowd at the ink! Coffee shop in Five Points.

The Unity March Against White Supremacy is expected to be over by 6 p.m.
