DENVER -- The Colorado Department of Transportation is considering a plan that would raise funding for roads and highways by taxing you on the number of miles you drive.

Right now, that funding comes from a tax on gas, but with more electric cars hitting the road and people using mass transit, the amount of funding raising through the gas tax isn’t keeping up with Colorado’s needs.

On this weekend’s Politics Unplugged, Tim Kirby of the Colorado Department of Transportation talks to Anne Trujillo about how the program would work and what some of the alternatives are.

Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Denver7
