DENVER – Republican candidate for governor Walker Stapleton says he should stand out from the pack on primary election day, June 26.

“What I think Colorado desperately needs is somebody who has had leadership in the private sector, can combine it with leadership on important public policy issues and proactively get to work solving our challenges in this state,” Stapleton told Anne Trujillo on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged.

Stapleton says his background in business has benefited the state during his two terms as State Treasurer.  He says that same business sense can also help him in the state’s higher office.

“An election for governor should be an be an election for a strong chief executive,” Stapleton said.  “That strong chief executive should be willing to tackle the economic challenges that Colorado is facing.”
