DENVER – Colorado voters are an independent bunch. There are more unaffiliated voters registered in the state than Republicans or Democrats.

A new party is hoping to take advantage of that. The Colorado chapter of the Working Families Party is part of a national effort to fight “for an economy that works for all us and a democracy in which every voice matters.”

“We’re not like a traditional third party,” Carlos Valverde told Anne Trujillo on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged . “In the same way the Tea Party pulled Republicans to be more conservative, we look to pull Democrats to be more progressive.”

Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Denver7 and noon on K3-KCDO.
