DENVER – Colorado voters are an independent bunch. There are more unaffiliated voters registered in the state than Republicans or Democrats.

A new party is hoping to take advantage of that. The Colorado chapter of the Working Families Party is part of a national effort to fight “for an economy that works for all us and a democracy in which every voice matters.”

“We’re not like a traditional third party,” Carlos Valverde told Anne Trujillo on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged. “In the same way the Tea Party pulled Republicans to be more conservative, we look to pull Democrats to be more progressive.”

Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Denver7 and noon on K3-KCDO.
