DENVER -- Why should you care about Russia?

With so much being said about what discussions members of Donald Trump’s campaign team may or may not have had with someone from Russia during the campaign, we wanted to know why we should care.

Metropolitan State University of Denver political science professor Dr. Norman Provizer says you remove the political names and parties from the discussion, the reasons for all commotion become clear.

“I think most Americans if they could purge their minds of everything else could sit there and say ‘this is pretty terrible’ and in fact if it occurs once, why wouldn’t it occur more often,” he told Anne Trujillo on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged.

Provizer says we shouldn’t become fixated on Russia. He says Iran and North Korea are also hot topics we should all be watching.

“The White House’s basic problem, the way I like to explain it kind of quickly, is a very common expression that comes from Ecclesiastics in the Bible and the common expression is ‘there is nothing new under the sun,’ he said.  “The last six months of the White House have shown us there is something new under the sun. We’ve never experienced anything approximating what we’ve been going through with the current administration.”

Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Denver7.
