DENVER – We are now less than a month from Election Day and more women than ever are on the ballot… just not necessarily in Colorado.

Two-hundred, thirty-four Republican and Democrat women are running for U.S. House seats, including three here in Colorado. That’s 67 more than two years ago when the old record was set.

Twenty-two women from the two major parties will be on the ballots for U.S. Senate seats across the nation. In six of those states, both the Republican and Democratic candidates are women, including Arizona who will elects its first female senator no matter which candidate wins.

Former Colorado Lt. Governor Gail Schoettler joined Anne Trujillo on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged to discuss how these numbers have changed in recent years and what it will take before women, who make up 54 percent of all voters, are finally represented equally.

Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Denver7 and Noon on K3-KCDO.
