DENVER – The nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court doesn’t surprise political science professors Josh Wilson and Norman Provizer.

“It’s the kind of pick that is probably not very different in many ways than any republican president would have selected,” Provizer told Anne Trujillo on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged.  The Metropolitan State University of Denver professor says Kavanaugh isn’t on the fringe of anything.

“He’s very conservative, but all of those judges were vetted by the Federalist society, the Heritage foundation.  You’re not going to find a closet liberal among that group of people.”

The University of Denver’s Josh Wilson says Kavanaugh is not a direct play to Trump’s base supporters.

“However, he does provide the administration with certain things both conservatives generally will want and the administration wants in terms of understanding executive power,” Wilson said.
