Colorado business leaders looking forward to growth that could come from GOP tax reform plan

DENVER – It’s going to be a busy few months in Washington as House and Senate leaders work out the differences between the tax reform bills passed by each chamber of Congress.

While there is a lot of controversy surrounding both versions of the bill, Jeff Wasden, the president of the Colorado Business Roundtable, says the reforms are the types of things that Americans and Coloradans need.

“It’s a pro-growth tax reform package,” Wasden told Marc Stewart on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged. “I think it’s imperative for the business community to remain competitive.”

Wasden says if you look at the ten countries with the highest corporate tax rates, their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is about 1 percent. He says that number jumps to 4 percent if you look at the industrialized with the lowest tax rates.

“Tax cuts do matter,” Wasden said. “It will lead to higher wages and increase growth.”

Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4:30 a.m. and 4pm on Denver7.
