DENVER — The Source Hotel and Market Hall in the RiNo District recently unveiled a unique way to socially distance while eating.

The venue created geodesic domes covered in a canvas material to surround tables and help encourage groups to sit separately while eating in the patio area.

“We wanted to create a space that felt intimate, but open,” said Mathieu Mudie, the director of retail for Zeppelin, the owner of venue.

Shortly after the City of Denver issued COVID-19 restrictions for bars, restaurants, and hotels, Mudie said they decided to create patio seating outside of the hotel and in the market’s parking lot.

“People can still enjoy food from all of our different restaurants on the property and maintain social distancing, but still be a part of something with other people while staying safe.,” said Mudie.

Mudie said the patio area is open Thursday through Sunday and a DJ provides entertainment on Saturday nights.

Mudie said they want to winterize the patio and geodomes to stay open through the fall but nothing is set in stone yet.
