DENVER — The Denver Art Museum's new glass-covered welcome center is weeks away from completion.

The official name of the new building is the Anna and John Sie Welcome Center.

The Denver Art museum began renovations in 2018 and the welcome center is a part of the multi-million-dollar renovation project.

As the welcome center nears completion, Denver Art Museum Director Christoph Heinrich shared some details with Denver7, saying the 50,000-square-foot space will have three levels and a few significant additions.

“We’re going to have a big space for community events, for gathering, we're going to have a restaurant, a café, lots of amenities that will make the museum an even better place here in the community,” Henrich said.

He said the museum is hoping to secure the certificate of occupancy for the welcome center in a few weeks.

The new and renovated sections of the art museum is scheduled to open by summer 2020.
