DENVER — Locals are invited to Mile High Stadium Wednesday night to have their say on a big development that will replace thousands of stadium parking spaces.
The mile high idea, which has been in the works for five years, will turn the south parking lots of the stadium into a mixed-use development. The Metropolitan Stadium District wants the site to have restaurants, bars, shops and housing.
"We want this to be a great place to be on game day and every day," said Andrea Burns with Denver Community Planning & Development.
The southern lots make up 52 acres of the stadium site. The thousands of parking spaces would be replaced with garages.
The public is invited to a workshop Wednesday night at the stadium from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be food and child care. City planners want the public's input on what exactly to build.
Construction isn't expected to start for another couple of years.
