A good Samaritan trying to help a woman being attacked ended up seriously injured himself.

The good Samaritan, from Florida, was staying at hotel in Vail Sunday night when he heard a disturbance in the hallway and spotted a woman being assaulted.

"When the visitor tried to stop the assault, he was rendered unconscious," Vail Police said.

The visitor was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Denver.

The suspect, Paris Aguilera Baez, from Mexico, fled the scene, police said.

However, officers found Aguilear Baez and took him into custody on suspicion of criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, first-degree assault, false imprisonment, harassment and domestic violence.
